As Manager, Portfolio Development, Helen Shannon is involved with the formation and growth of new technology-based startups.   In addition to assisting the company creation team with due diligence and company formation activities, Helen manages market analysis and business feasibility projects for a variety of clients in collaboration with Innovate Calgary partners.

Helen has more than 13 years experience with Innovate Calgary as a marketing specialist, a Project Manager with the Licensing team and as a Manager, Company Creation.  Prior to joining Innovate Calgary Helen was a senior consultant with a marketing consulting firm assisting major corporations in the areas of agriculture, transportation, and utilities with key marketing and strategic business decisions.  She also has five years of business development experience with SAIT Polytechnic securing and managing a portfolio of contracts, developing new market opportunities and managing client tracking and satisfaction.

Her additional experience co-founding a consulting company to provide just-in-time training and mentoring for small business owners and new entrepreneurs has resulted in firsthand knowledge of the challenges and issues faced by startup companies.

Helen holds an MBA degree from the University of Calgary.
